And I'm left wondering: is there really any point trying to provide evidence that will show you're wrong, because I'm concerned you'll all either misinterpret it or simply ignore it and stick to your preconceived biases?
Don't feel hostile. Since when is pity hostility? Only the truly deluded would confuse the two.... Message Edited by watermelony on 11-04-2009 11:27 PM

hurricanejbb wrote: Whenever I post online regarding libertarian viewpoints and how the left and the right keep screwing things up, I always get the most flack from liberals who accuse me of being a "right winger" (which I take great offense to) or of living in a fantasy world. So I need to know: what do liberals have against libertarians?
Well you Libertarians are right we obviously need more deregulation in stuff like the banking system. I think that would do alot of good. People, what God wants most is for me to pay less taxes. So if you cannot stop masterbating to internet porn and smoking the grass, in order to become a Republican. I suggest joining the Libertarian party. Libertarianism is not the same as anarchy. We don't want to completely abolish the government; we just don't want the government interfering in areas where it has no authority.

You're
one of the smarter ones, then. The problem is that many libertarians
decide the government has no authority interfering in anything--how
fast they drive, the drugs they do, the people they kill in duels, the
nukes they're building in their basement, etc. I'm fine with the idea
of governments keeping out of our private lives, in fact I rather like
that, but far too many of you use "libertarian" as a euphemism for
"anarchy." GenericLiberal wrote: Because the libertarians are nothing but obsticles to the glorious expansion of The Party™. As Dear Comrade Jon Stewart demonstrates you must act superior to anybody not sharing in the glorious liberal ideology. This includes insulting any who support the outdated ideas of "limited government". The party must be controlling all aspects of the nation for the sake of Hope™ and Change™!
I don't know what bridge you crawled out from under, troll, but you should probably get back to it.

In a Government for the people, by the people, it is the PEOPLE who ARE the government and who decide what they want their government to control. In a DEMOCRACY the majority decide. Libertarians make up,What ? less than 1% of the people, but you want to tell the rest what they can and cannot control ?

We want people to live their lives freely. It's you left-wingers and the right-wingers who want to tell the rest of society what they can and can't do.

Sounds a little hostile there hurricane .??. Yes we libs will allow for a master, but we will do so in the name of the greater good ( less waste, less hate etc etc) true its going to bite us in the butt, BUT its better than doing NOTHING...You say "we want people to live their lives freely," I say SOME have freely lived their lives so well in the past that they forgot others existed....We know now exactly what our actions have caused, to be libertarian or republican about any of this would be to turn or backs on real issues/PEOPLE. ps... We the people are always the ones struggling, finally it seems(even with all the typical corruption) we might be going to struggle for a good reason.
